Can you actually buy a Cybercab? Where the $30,000 figure stands

The question comes up constantly, and the honest answer is that nobody outside Tesla knows the price. What is settled: - Musk said in 2024 that the Cybercab would cost under $30,000. That remains a target, not an announced price. Tesla has still not published a production price. - You cannot buy one as a consumer today. Tesla's own FAQ refers anyone interested to a fleet enquiry form, for buying a fleet or an individual Cybercab "for commercial purposes". - Production started at Giga Texas in April 2026, and Musk said at the time it would be "very slow" to begin with, citing supply chain and validation. The gap that actually matters: - Tesla says the line can build more than 125,000 Cybercabs a year. - The stated ambition is 2 to 4 million a year eventually. - Those are not the same number, and the distance between them is the whole story of ownership. A vehicle you cannot buy in volume is a vehicle you cannot own. So the plausible sequence is: Tesla operates them, then commercial fleets do, then possibly individuals. Anyone claiming to know a consumer price or date is guessing. If you have a source on the fleet terms - price, minimum order, what the commercial agreement looks like - that would be the most useful thing anyone could post here.
