Riding in a Cybercab: what the rider rules actually say

Most of what gets written about the Cybercab is about the vehicle. Much less is written about the rules you actually ride under, which sit in Tesla's rider FAQ and are worth reading before you turn up expecting a normal taxi. The details that catch people out: - Two passengers, maximum. There is no third seat and no exception. - Children under 13 cannot ride in a Cybercab at all. 13 to 17 is allowed only with an adult. That is in the terms, not a guideline. - You cannot book for someone else. The ride has to be yours. - You cannot request a Cybercab over a Model Y. The vehicle is assigned by availability and by how many people are travelling, so asking for the gold one is not possible yet. - The car waits seven minutes at pickup. After that you may be charged, or the ride cancelled. - Service animals are allowed. Pets are not. Things that are better than you might assume: - Doors open automatically, and can also be opened from the app, from the touchscreen, or with a button on the door. - Rerouting mid-trip is supported through the app. - The rear trunk is 20.2 cubic feet, which Tesla says takes two check-in cases and two carry-ons. For a two-seater that is generous. - Accessibility looks designed in rather than retrofitted: bench seating at wheelchair height, braille on the doors and overhead buttons, space for service animals. - Step-in height is 16.5 inches, which is low. Head room is 38.3 inches and leg room 43.4 inches. If you have ridden in one, post what surprised you. I am especially curious whether the seven-minute window is enforced in practice, and what happens when someone is late.
